The Story Behind the Art
This release marked a major turning point, bringing multiple creative ideas together under the unified Occulum brand. Originally explored as an art upgrade for a previous project, Jazz designed three distinct visual concepts: humans, apes, and gorillas. While the previous project was eventually closed, the artwork was too detailed to leave behind. Both humans and apes were brought back to life as twin mini-collections of 222 pieces each.
The goal was to create some of the most intricate pixel portraits in the ecosystem. For the number of traits designed, each could have easily supported a multi-thousand supply collection. Instead, the supply was kept intentionally small, with Jazz assembling traits piece by piece to ensure every colorway and design element complemented the next.
What Makes It Special
- Detailed Pixel Art: These portraits feature rich shading, complex accessories, and clean color harmony.
- Evolution and New Ground: Apes serve as an artistic evolution from the genesis Degens, while Humans introduce an expressive, human-focused pixel style rarely explored on the Bitcoin network.
- Hand Crafted Combinations: Rather than relying on purely random generation, the traits were paired thoughtfully to ensure each piece looked distinct, cohesive, and balanced.
