The Story Behind the Art

Up until this release, Occulum had only experimented with profile picture (PFP) art. To reach a broader audience beyond avatar collectors, the goal was to create something rarely seen in the Ordinals space: genuine one-of-one, non-PFP pixel art. Artist Jazz had previously started an item collection that was canceled. Rather than letting those concepts disappear, the project was revived, with Jazz creating 51 brand new pieces from scratch, one of which became the official parent inscription.

Artifacts was designed to push boundaries both visually and technically. Instead of relying on off-chain marketplaces for collection tracking, the entire release was connected through multi-layered on-chain parent-child provenance. Pairing this structure with the most diverse selection of satoshis ever assembled, Artifacts established a new benchmark for on-chain craftsmanship on Bitcoin.

What Makes It Special

  • Record Diversity of Sats: With 28 different sat types across just 50 pieces, Artifacts set the record for the most diverse sat collection on Bitcoin. It features ultra-scarce coins like Block 78 Palindromes and JPEG Palindromes, each with a total supply of only 5,000 sats (0.00005 BTC).
  • Historic Grandparent Provenance: To avoid an overlooked, high-numbered root, the collection traces back to grandparent inscription #3,780 (an Ordinal Face), anchoring Artifacts directly to one of the first 5,000 inscriptions on Bitcoin.
  • Permanently Sealed Collection: The parent inscription (#75,791,017) was inscribed on an ultra-rare Block 78 Palindrome and sent permanently to Satoshi Nakamoto's wallet, forever locking the collection so no future artifacts can ever be added.
  • Pure Gaming Relics: Moving away from avatars, every piece represents a bespoke fantasy item, weapon, or tool, complete with vibrant backdrops and hand-refined pixel details.
